The present thesis delves into the human rights abuses in the Xinjiang region, particularly focusing on the pressing issue of forced labor that affects the Uyghur population. The study thus presents a comprehensive examination of the region's political, ethnic, and religious dynamics and scrutinises how the Chinese government has utilized forced labor as an instrument of oppression. It will present an analysis of the international context, tracing the journey of products in various fields that originate from Xinjiang's forced labor camps and end up in the global market. Employing testimonies and interviews as a primary methodology, the research ultimately aims to add to the already established literature and to shed light on the genuine experiences of those affected, unveiling the human toll of such abuses. In doing so, the thesis also examines the importance of international intervention, and strives to contribute valuable insights for policymakers, human rights advocates, and consumers regarding the Uyghur crisis and forced labor.
