In 2019, the University of Padua started a series of archaeological investigations at the eastern slopes of the hill of Tanit in Nora (Cagliari, Sardinia), focusing on the vast monumental complex in front of the A-B road. Research is still ongoing and is gradually revealing the peculiarities of a sacred area that was probably of considerable importance for the ancient city. In the following paper, we will first analyse the attributes of the sanctuary known to date. These attributes will then be compared with those of the most important potentially coeval sacred areas in Sardinia, and some relevant religious sites in Sicily built between the Punic and Roman Republican ages. The thesis aims to define possible models and building traditions that may have influenced the architectural design of the building located on the eastern slopes of the hill of Tanit at Nora and the nature of this sacred area.

Abstract
The thesis aims to define possible models and building traditions that may have influenced the architectural design of the building located on the eastern slopes of the hill of Tanit at Nora and the nature of this sacred area.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
