This thesis is an autoethnography that explores my experience as an international student living across continents through the lens of culture and heritage. Through Hofstede’s cultural dimensions and Hall’s theory of culture, I analyzed my aversion towards one culture and keenness towards others. Narrated chronologically from my childhood in Indonesia, high school in the USA, bachelor degree in Japan and Sweden, and master degree in Italy, I intended to unpack my disposition towards each place that I had been living in and find a pattern in and out of it. Through reflective writing and interviews, I have been able to compile a type of pattern that helped me understand how my core values have developed, what dimensions that make me feel attached to a place, and what motivated me in life. Offering an analysis of the lived experience of self and identity, I hope this study could be of use to other international students on their paths of self-exploration and self-discovery.
Narrato cronologicamente, il testo tratta dell’infanzia in Indonesia, scuola superiore negli Stati Uniti, laurea triennale in Giappone e Svezia, e laurea magistrale in Italia.

Abstract
Offering an analysis of the lived experience of self and identity, I hope this study could be of use to other international students on their paths of self-exploration and self-discovery.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
