The following dissertation aims to investigate the candidate selection process in the Italian labor market. It aims to understand what influences the outcome of the selection process. This was possible thanks to the support of the company The Adecco Group and the DataScience & Research department. The thesis project first presents an overview of the Italian economic-employment situation followed by an in-depth study of the structure of the selection process within the Adecco Group, with a particular look at the figures of executives and managers, managed by the LHH brand. Next, the survey sample is expanded by involving other job figures such as white and blue collar to analyze the reasons according to which the candidate does not finish the selection process undertaken, the reason why he or she is not hired by the company. In the last chapter, a segmentation analysis is presented to identify groups of candidates with similar characteristics in order to understand the salient points they consider when evaluating a job proposal and respond more efficiently to their needs.
