Violenza di genere nei contesti urbani: un confronto fra Italia e Grecia

The aim of this study is to investigate the phenomenon of gender-based violence in urban contexts, focusing on the comparison of two cities densely populated by students, Padova in Italy and Patras in Greece. The objective was to examine the participants' experiences through the use of reports, a qualitative tool that allowed the exploration of their thoughts, feelings and reactions to violence. Thematic analysis was employed for data analysis, enabling the identification of similar concepts and the focus on the individuality of each recounted experience. The emerged results highlighted significant themes, including the sense of safety in urban spaces, the impact of street harassment on various aspects of participants' lives, and the frequency of such incidents. In the two cities of interest, the experiences of the participants were often similar, despite the different cultural context. This research provides an overview of the challenges faced by women in urban contexts and emphasizes the need for systemic change to address gender-based violence.

Il presente elaborato ha come scopo l'indagine del fenomeno della violenza di genere nei contesti urbani, focalizzandosi sul confronto fra due città densamente popolate da studenti, Padova in Italia e Patrasso in Grecia. L'obbiettivo è stato l'approfondimento dei vissuti delle partecipanti attraverso l'uso di resoconti, uno strumento qualitativo che ha permesso l'elaborazione dei loro pensieri, sentimenti e reazioni alla violenza. Per l'analisi dei dati è stata utilizzata la tecnica dell'analisi tematica che ha reso possibile l'identificazione di concetti simili e di focalizzarsi sull'individualità di ogni esperienza raccontata. I risultati emersi hanno evidenziato temi significativi, tra cui il senso di sicurezza nello spazio urbano, l'impatto delle molestie di strada in diversi aspetti della vita delle partecipanti e la frequenza di tali episodi. Nelle due città d'interesse le esperienze delle partecipanti erano spesso simili, nonostante il contesto culturale differente. Questa ricerca fornisce una visione panoramica sulle sfide affrontate dalle donne nei contesti urbani e sottolinea la necessità di un cambiamento sistemico per affrontare la violenza di genere.
