Una rareza pionera: elementos feministas en el ensayo y en la novela de Carmen Martín Gaite

This document constitutes an analysis of the essay and narrative production by Carmen Martín Gaite, a writer from Salamanca and a pioneer in women's rights, who dedicated her life to their defense. Novelist, essayist, playwright and poet, the author is considered one of the most important and awarded in post-war Spanish literature and an attentive observer who knew how to mix personal and social history with literature. The objective of this final degree project is to highlight, through the historical-social picture of Francoist Spain, the social and moral condition of the female figure of the 20th century, through the study of the essay Usos amorosos de la postguerra española and from the novel El cuarto de atrás, works that became a true example of feminist writing.

El presente documento constituye un análisis de la producción de ensayística y de narrativa de Carmen Martín Gaite, escritora salmantina y pionera en los derechos de la mujer, que dedicó su vida por su defensa. Novelista, ensayista, dramaturga y poeta, la autora es considerada una de las más importantes y galardonadas de la literatura española de posguerra y una atenta observadora que supe mezclar la historia personal y social con la literatura. El objetivo de este trabajo de fin de grado es resaltar, a través del cuadro histórico-social de la España franquista, la condición social y moral de la figura femenina del siglo XX, a través del estudio del ensayo Usos amorosos de la postguerra española y de la novela El cuarto de atrás, obras que se convirtieron en un verdadero ejemplo de escritura feminista.
