In this thesis will be discussed the political thought of Anthony Ascham, a 17th century english politician, relative to the mentalities of the civil war period (1639-1651) english intellectual and political scene. The principal subjects of this work are the origins of law and governments, obedience and the lawfulness of war.

In questa tesi viene discusso il pensiero politico di Anthony Ascham, politico inglese di metà seicento in relazione alle mentalità tipiche della scena politica e intellettuale inglese durante la guerra civile (1639-1651). Gli argomenti principali trattati sono l'origine di leggi e governi, l'obbedienza e la legalità della guerra.
