Testimonianze sonore nel "Voyage Around The World" (1777) di Georg Forster

On his return from Captain James Cook's second expedition to the Pacific (1772-1775), in which he had participated as a naturalist and botanist with his father Johann Reinold, Georg Forster published his Voyage Around The World (1777). This diary is an important source on the voyage, not only from a scientific point of view, but also from an anthropological one. The attention that Forster paid to sound and music during the writing of his diary has made it possible to use this source from a strictly musicological point of view in order to study, analyse and contextualise some of the testimonies that he reports.

Georg Forster, di ritorno dal secondo viaggio di esplorazione dell'Oceano Pacifico (1772-1775) del Capitano James Cook, a cui aveva preso parte con suo padre Johann Reinold come naturalista e botanico, diede alle stampe il suo Voyage Around The World (1777). Questo diario costituisce una fonte significativa del viaggio non soltanto da un punto di vista scientifico, ma anche antropologico. L'attenzione alla sfera sonora e musicale dimostrata da Forster in fase di scrittura ha permesso di servirsi di questa fonte da un punto di vista più propriamente musicologico per censire, analizzare e contestualizzare alcune delle testimonianze da lui riportate. ​
