Argentina was hit by a terrible military dictatorship between 1976 and 1983. The Armed Forces have violated all fundamental rights, kidnapped, tortured and killed innocent people. Several detention centers have been created and over 30,000 people have disappeared. In those years, several human rights organizations were born, including Madres and Abuelas de Plaza de Mayo. With the return to democracy the population wanted justice for all those victims who had suffered. CONADEP was created with the aim of highlighting everything that had happened in the last 7 years. The soldiers who committed crimes against humanity were put on trial and the people regained their rights. The Madres and Abuelas de Plaza de Mayo began looking for their children and grandchildren. March 24th became Memorial Day in Argentina. However, people did not want to forget. To remember the period of dictatorship, several commemorative and memorial sites were created.
