Turkiye has emerged as a key player in refugee hosting since 2014, primarily due to the Syrian Crisis and, more recently, the influx of Afghan refugees fleeing the Taliban regime. While the majority of refugees reside in urban areas, their integration into Turkish society remains a complex issue. This study examines the Turkish public perception of refugees, focusing on all migrant groups in Turkiye, comprehensively utilising the Integrated Threat Theory framework. Through qualitative research, it aims to uncover the underlying factors shaping attitudes towards these groups. By understanding perceived threats associated with refugee presence, the study seeks to contribute to social cohesion and integration strategies in Turkiye.

Abstract
Turkiye has emerged as a key player in refugee hosting since 2014, primarily due to the Syrian Crisis and, more recently, the influx of Afghan refugees fleeing the Taliban regime. While the majority of refugees reside in urban areas, their integration into Turkish society remains a complex issue. This study examines the Turkish public perception of refugees, focusing on all migrant groups in Turkiye, comprehensively utilising the Integrated Threat Theory framework. Through qualitative research, it aims to uncover the underlying factors shaping attitudes towards these groups. By understanding perceived threats associated with refugee presence, the study seeks to contribute to social cohesion and integration strategies in Turkiye.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
