The objective of this thesis is to analyse the evolution of behavioural economics and to propose a translation from English into Italian of two chapters taken from Michelle Baddeley’s book titled “Behavioural Economics: A Very Short Introduction". The dissertation is presented in three chapters. The objective of the first chapter is to provide an introduction to the subject of behavioural economics. This will be achieved by presenting a brief history of the subject, outlining its evolution and the contributions of key figures, and describing its main important features and the ways in which it can be applied in the modern world. In Chapter 2, the methodology and theories of translation are explained, from their origins to their development. The chapter concludes with an accurate study of economic language and translation, which provides a contrastive analysis between English and Italian. The final chapter of this dissertation presents a practical application of the theory outlined in the preceding chapters. It begins with an introduction to Michelle Baddeley’s book and the rationale behind the decision to translate it. It then presents the translation proposal, comparing the source and target texts. Finally, the techniques employed in the translation are described in detail, with a focus on the strategies and problems encountered between the two languages. A variety of examples are provided to illustrate the points made.
