AI: Artificial Intelligence. How has the use of voice and sound in general changed with the advent of artificial intelligence in the world of cinema and the so-called New Media? The spark that ignited the research for this Master's thesis is based on the following reflection: "It is important to understand whether recent technological transformations have enriched or impoverished the seventh art." At first glance, it would seem that technological innovation, with its intriguing offerings, has benefited all five human senses. So far, nothing too eccentric; but is it really so? And furthermore: is it exclusively an enrichment or... Continuing the analysis, one should also question whether the price to pay has been - or probably will be - quite high, because this could be the future, uncomfortable surprise for all individuals. From our perspective, we have tried to distance ourselves, as much as humanly possible, from any form of resistance to changes, especially those directed towards the fields of culture, mass communication, and leisure, positioning ourselves as the late poet Zanzotto used to say: "unguaranteed and insecure." This point of view has helped us, it seems, to investigate with greater open-mindedness, "the new that is advancing." Therefore, we should be able to affirm that it is very important to engage in dialogue with changes, always and in any case, regardless of how deeply they take root in our lives. There is a persistent tendency, more or less for everyone, to resist change, and this is probably due to the distant times when our evolution began, of course. Therefore, demonstrating prudent openness cannot penalize, indeed: evolution confirms the validity of the approach. Thus, a first very interesting concept emerges: the growth of human knowledge also passes through the fascination of inventions that, regardless of their size, place, or scope (often resulting), manage to weave a subtle, therefore fragile, bond that is nevertheless bearer of new requests, new stimuli, deeper and therefore more intense, from the audience; undoubtedly, this fascination captivates many if not all people, and therein lies its inseparable danger. Furthermore, its presence and consequent use also extend to other fields, beyond those of origin, contributing both to diffusion and to understanding by a large portion of the population. And yet: does it make sense to speak of "New Media" without considering technological innovation? Their connection would seem tautological. As we well know, old media are integrated into the new ones and also expanded (by the new ones) and so on in a continuum that, at least until today, has never been interrupted; this would lead us to think that the presence of Artificial Intelligence (AI) will allow New Media to develop further and be thus massively disseminated, if we are allowed the play on words. It is undeniable that, in the cinematic context, sounds, diegetic and extradiegetic, have always enriched the work, regardless of whether they were created by humans, inventions of the same, or animals or forces of nature. Therefore, regardless of the nature of the source generating the sound or noise, the effect was able to produce, ad hoc, sensations, emotions, and who knows what else in the people who benefited from such sounds. Now, would something change if the source of such noises, sounds, melodies, were characterized by the human voice or by a synthetic voice? And furthermore, are we sure that the choice of such sound effects was made by a human being? And by whom then? Now, it is not intended to trivialize the issue here, but simply to emphasize numerous aspects that are anything but "silly."
IA: Intelligenza Artificiale.

Continuing the analysis, one should also question whether the price to pay has been - or probably will be - quite high, because this could be the future, uncomfortable surprise for all individuals. From our perspective, we have tried to distance ourselves, as much as humanly possible, from any form of resistance to changes, especially those directed towards the fields of culture, mass communication, and leisure, positioning ourselves as the late poet Zanzotto used to say: "unguaranteed and insecure."
