I Meietti librai padovani: traffici di libri fra Venezia e Francoforte fra il XVI e il XVII secolo

The research subject of the thesis is the family of Paduan booksellers Meietti. The Meietti family operated mainly in Padua and Venice during the last three decades of the 16th and the first three decades of the 17th century. Particular attention has been given to Roberto Meietti, a publisher and merchant based in Venice, who made a significant contribution to the Republic of Venice during the Interdict of 1606-1607 and the War of the Writings. Roberto's bookselling activities extended internationally, particularly to the German-speaking world and the Frankfurt Book Fair, of which he was one of the major foreign contributors during the last two decades of the 17th century. The thesis also offers an analysis of the bookselling trade between Venice and the Fair, particularly focusing on the books exported to it.

L'oggetto di ricerca della tesi è la famiglia di librai padovani Meietti. I Meietti operarono principalmente a Padova e Venezia negli ultimi tre decenni del XVI e i primi tre decenni del XVII secolo. Particolare attenzione è stata dedicata a Roberto Meietti, editore e mercante con sede a Venezia che diede un contributo notevole alla Repubblica di Venezia durante la vicenda dell'Interdetto del 1606-1607 e la guerra delle scritture. I traffici librai di Roberto erano estesi a livello internazionale ed in particolare al mondo tedesco ed alla Fiera di Francoforte, di cui fu uno dei maggiori contributori esteri durante gli ultimi due decenni del XVII secolo. La tesi quindi offre anche un'analisi del traffico libraio fra Venezia e la Fiera, ed in particolare dei libri che venivano verso di essa esportati.
