The aim of the work is to examine how emotions can be represented and described in literature, in particular by focusing on the attempt carried out by the venetian author Goffredo Parise. The first chapter focuses on the fundamental concept of body and its connection to literature by analyzing theoretical and stylistic approaches. The second chapter outlines the author’s biography and provides a brief overview of his literary production, while in the third chapter is conducted an in-depth study of his major work, Sillabari, highlighting its relevant aspects: the gestation time, the choice of the title, the structure, the reception that it obtained from the critics and finally the style adopted. The fourth and final chapter is dedicated to the primary role of the senses within the Sillabari, emphasizing the act of seeing, which on the one hand is a fundamental activity of many characters in the stories, but it is also the main way in which the author relates to the narrated matter. It investigates the centrality of the writer’s sensory experience, which through the gaze, but also all the other senses, awakens the conscience and captures thoughts and feelings.
L’obiettivo dell’elaborato è quello di esaminare come le emozioni possono essere rappresentate e descritte nella letteratura, in particolare soffermandosi sul tentativo portato avanti dall’autore veneto Goffredo Parise. Il primo capitolo si concentra sul concetto fondamentale di corpo e la sua connessione con la letteratura analizzando gli approcci teorici e stilistici. Il secondo capitolo delinea la biografia dell’autore e fornisce una breve panoramica della sua produzione letteraria, nel terzo viene condotto uno studio approfondito sulla sua opera maggiore, i Sillabari, evidenziandone gli aspetti rilevanti: il tempo di gestazione, la scelta del titolo, la struttura, l’accoglienza che ha ottenuto dalla critica e infine lo stile adottato. Il quarto e ultimo capitolo è dedicato al ruolo primario dei sensi all’interno dei Sillabari, ponendo l’accento sull’atto del vedere, che da un lato è attività fondamentale dei molti dei personaggi dei racconti, ma è anche modalità principale con la quale l’autore si rapporta alla materia narrata. Si indaga la centralità dell’esperienza sensitiva dello scrittore, che attraverso lo sguardo, ma anche tutti gli altri sensi, risveglia la coscienza e capta pensieri e sentimenti.
