Over the centuries there have been various representations of Saint Francis, both in art and in literature. The following essay aims to discover a new perspective of the friar minor, through the hagiographic narratives and images of the Bardi dossal, depicting the life and miracles of the Saint. The work is divided into three parts: in the first phase the places inherent to the aforementioned research are described and the first "istorie" of the florentine dossal are analyzed, in relation to the narratives of the aftermath, regarding the same episodes. In the second chapter the Franciscan proposal is further characterized, through Francis' action in bringing the evangelical message, with example and life, instead of using only words. Finally, in the last chapter the narratives of the poor man's miracles continue, which combined with the comparison with the tiles on the dossal, do not cease to amaze even post-mortem. The Saint lived his life in function and imitation of Christ, this is confirmed by his Testament, which is addressed in particular to the community of his friars, and is a document that recognizes his sanctity.

Abstract
The Saint lived his life in function and imitation of Christ, this is confirmed by his Testament, which is addressed in particular to the community of his friars, and is a document that recognizes his sanctity.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
