The present work aims to illustrate the main characteristics of the legal language used in the Italian and Russian context, through a comparison between the linguistic style of some criminal sentences for Femicide in the two areas of reference. The paper is divided into seven chapters: in the first it is proposed a general theoretical excursus on special languages, with their definition and an analysis of their lexical and morphosyntactic peculiarities. The second chapter focuses on the specific comparison between Italian and Russian legal languages, highlighting their lexical and morphosyntactic characteristics. The third chapter delves into the distinctive features that differentiate specialized translation from that of the literary field. Some concepts are then analyzed and general information is provided regarding the different stages of the translation process, the tools and tasks of the specialized translator. Moreover, the translation strategies, methods and translation techniques best suited to the field under consideration are illustrated, highlighting the specificities of legal translation and, within it, the distinction between sworn and certified translation. In the fourth section of the research the current definition of ‘Femicide’ is presented, understood both as a social phenomenon and as a specific crime. It also focuses on the presentation of the different views and regulations of this crime in the two penal systems. The fifth chapter is dedicated to the study of the role and components of criminal sentences in the Italian and Russian legal context, as well as a comparative analysis of the most significant linguistic properties of the chosen Italian and Russian sentences and the stylistic-formal characteristics of the legal language used in the selected sentences. The sixth and seventh chapters, the “heart” of the most operational character of the work, the translation into Russian of some Italian sentences and in Italian of some Russian sentences related to known cases of Femicide is proposed, with the illustration of the respective articles of the Penal Code applied and a detailed comment on the issues faced in the implementation of the translation proposals. Among the main bibliographic sources that supported the drafting of the paper are the works of Cortelazzo 1994 and 2000; Dardano 1973 and 2009; Dell'Anna 2008 and 2013; Diadori 2012; Fortis 2005; Goletiani 2008; Gualdo and Telve 2011; Malone 1988; Megale 2008; Mortara Garavelli 2001; Novokhatskiy; Ondelli 2007; Sabatini 1990 and 1999; Scarpa 2001, 2008 and 2015; Serianni 1985, 2003 and 2006; Torresin 2022.
