This study aims to analyse the films of director Nuri Bilge Ceylan using the criteria of “the Auteur Theory”. Examining Ceylan's films with the principles of the Auteur Theory makes it understandable why his films receive awards from important film festivals and praise from film critics. Nuri Bilge Ceylan's first short film, Koza (Cocoon), and last feature film, Kuru Otlar Üstüne (About Dry Grasses), from 1995 to 2023, received awards from prominent international film festivals. Since Koza (Cocoon), the director has created his cinema language and has become highly acclaimed by film critics and audiences. I explored Nuri Bilge Ceylan's films by considering the principles of the Auteur Theory, which include his distinctive cinematic style, recurring thematic motifs, significant control over the production process, and personal approach to filmmaking. Upon analysis, it is clear that Ceylan's cinema fully aligns with the principles of the Auteur Theory. In all of his films, Ceylan employed his distinct personal style and enriched his narratives with similar themes, giving his stories autobiographical qualities. From his first short film to his latest work, it is evident that he is a complete Auteur director. This study includes Nuri Bilge Ceylan's films through the Auteur Theory, highlighting his signature techniques: static frames, natural symbolism, and introspective storytelling. From "Cocoon" to "About Dry Grasses," Ceylan consistently explores human complexity and inner worlds, maintaining thematic and stylistic coherence throughout his cinematic career.
Questo studio si propone di analizzare i film del regista Nuri Bilge Ceylan utilizzando i criteri della “Politica degli autori”. Esaminando i film di Ceylan con i principi della Politica degli autori si capisce il motivo per cui i suoi film ricevono premi da importanti festival cinematografici e elogi da parte della critica cinematografica. Il primo cortometraggio di Nuri Bilge Ceylan, Koza (Cocoon), e l'ultimo lungometraggio, Kuru Otlar Üstüne (Racconto di due stagioni), dal 1995 al 2023, hanno ricevuto premi da importanti festival cinematografici internazionali. Dopo Koza (Cocoon), il regista ha creato il suo linguaggio cinematografico ed è stato acclamato dalla critica e dal pubblico.Ho esplorato i film di Nuri Bilge Ceylan considerando i principi della Teoria dell'Autore, che includono il suo stile cinematografico distintivo, motivi tematici ricorrenti, un controllo significativo sul processo di produzione e un approccio personale al cinema.Dall'analisi, è chiaro che il cinema di Ceylan si allinea pienamente ai principi della Politica degli autori. In tutti i suoi film, Ceylan ha utilizzato il suo distinto stile personale e ha arricchito le sue narrazioni con temi simili, conferendo alle sue storie qualità autobiografiche. Dal suo primo cortometraggio al suo ultimo lavoro, è evidente che è un regista d'autore completo. Questo studio include i film di Nuri Bilge Ceylan attraverso la Politica degli autori, evidenziando le sue tecniche distintive: fotogrammi statici, simbolismo naturale e narrazione introspettiva. Da Koza (Cocoon) a Kuru Otlar Üstüne (Racconto di due stagioni), Ceylan esplora costantemente la complessità umana e i mondi interiori, mantenendo coerenza tematica e stilistica durante tutta la sua carriera cinematografica.
