The present study focuses on the "Patrimonialization of an Industrial Agrarian Landscape: The Case of SEMRY in Northern Cameroon (1950 - 2020)". This is proposed through methodical analyses and field surveys to lift a part of the veil on this phenomenon. The enhancement and safeguarding of the agro-industry cultural heritage is at the heart of the many debates and constitutes the basis of development in Cameroon. Indeed, irrigated rice cultivation is practiced in the three northern regions of Cameroon. From the colonial period to the present day, this activity has been a source of income in this sub-region. Supervised by a National Company for the Expansion and Modernization of the Rice Cultivation of Yagoua (SEMRY), located in the Mayo Danay department of the capital Yagoua. SEMRY represents the rice agro-industry of Cameroon. It ensures the production and marketing of semi-finished products, the promotion and the safeguarding of this crop. It has driven the development of structures and infrastructure in the region and transformed the landscapes of Mayo Danay. SEMRY is the result of the legacy of the colonial and post-colonial periods that are discussed in our work. However, how will the patrimonialization of the industrial wastelands and landscapes of the SEMRY through the touristification of the local industrial heritage constitute a lever for the socio-economic development of the country and a curator of this cultural heritage for future generations? The conservation of this ancestral know-how is therefore a challenge for public institutions, local authorities, the scientific community, and International institutions must get involved to protect this common good to materialize for the history of the people. Abstract
