Preliminary design of a radiofrequency cathode for the development of an Iodine based neutralizer to be used in ion engines by the creation of a MATLAB model. In electric propulsion the study of an Iodine based atlernative to the usage of noble gasses (Argon, Xenon..) is very relevant in current times due to its interesting physical properties, such as high density which greatly simplifies storage and miniaturization. This study is related to BOOST project.
Design preliminare di un catodo in radiofrequenza per lo sviluppo di un neutralizzatore a base di Iodio per motori a ioni mediante lo sviluppo di un modello MATLAB. Nel campo della propulsione elettrica si studio l'utilizzo dello Iodio come alternativa ai comuni gas nobili (Argon, Xenon...) a causa del fatto che questo presenta proprietà fisiche interessanti quali densità elevata data dalla conservazione allo stato solido che semplifica notevolmente anche la miniaturizzazione. Lo studio in questione riguarda in particolare il progetto BOOST.
