BACKGROUND: Coaches and physical education teachers are key educational person for all children and youth. Through sport and physical activity can be developed, a range of personal, social, and motor skills and competencies. These two professions are not often sufficiently valued and they have to face with a number of individual and organizational factors that could affect their work, their decisions, and athletes. A consequence of these difficulties is the possibility of the onset of burnout. PURPOSE OF THE STUDY: The objective is to investigate, specifically, the possibility of the onset of burnout in these two categories of workers, trying to give a complete picture of what the causes and associated risks might be. This had be possible by reviewing the knowledge already described in the literature, MATERIALS AND METHODS: The study was carried out through two separate research for coaches and physical education teachers. The two researches were led with PubMed and were selected a total of 22 scientific articles. RESULTS: The results show that individual factors do not have such a significant importance in burnout onset because of their mixed results. The way a person reacts to stressful situations and external pressures seems to give a higher correlation to the possibility of experiencing burnout. Organizational factors such as work schedules, pay, social support and organization of the work environment, in most studies these are found to be the main cause of burnout. CONCLUSIONS: The number of studies on this topic is limited, but if we continue to analyze this topic, we would have more and more knowledge. Improving the quality of work environments will be the main goal to minimize the onset of burnout syndrome.
