This paper delves into the topic of inclusion for individuals with disabilities, examining the legal framework and its practical applications in educational and sports settings. The first part of the thesis focuses on Italian legislation that protects the rights of people with disabilities. It reviews the primary law ensuring the inclusion of individuals with disabilities in the labor market, with particular attention to measures that promote employment and equal opportunities. The discussion also addresses the importance of removing architectural barriers and initiatives aimed at improving mobility and communication for people with disabilities, to enhance their quality of life. The paper then explores the regulations governing inclusion in the educational system, highlighting the crucial role of inter-institutional working groups at regional and local levels. These groups work to ensure that schools are equipped to adequately accommodate and support students with disabilities. The field of sports is also addressed, analyzing laws that promote the participation of individuals with disabilities in sports activities, ensuring equal opportunities and access. The second part of the paper examines the practical application of these inclusion principles, with a specific focus on educational and sports contexts. It investigates how inclusion is addressed in schools, referencing the implementation of the ICF system (International Classification of Functioning, Disability, and Health) to evaluate and plan inclusive educational pathways. Furthermore, the role of dance movement therapy is explored as a therapeutic and educational tool to foster the integration of students with disabilities. Sports are presented as a key element for inclusion, with specific examples such as Baskin, a sport designed to be inclusive, and the Paralympic Games, which serve as a significant international stage for athletes with disabilities. The paper concludes by analyzing how sports and education intersect to promote truly inclusive physical education and emphasizes the critical role of educators in ensuring that inclusion is not merely a theoretical principle, but is realized in everyday practice. Personal experiences are also shared, offering additional perspectives and enriching the understanding of inclusion in both educational and sports contexts.
