This bibliographic thesis explores the concept of active aging and the urgent need to develop targeted cognitive interventions in an aging society. Through a comprehensive analysis, the effect of aging on executive functions and cognitive abilities is explored, with particular emphasis on the neuropsychological perspective of cognitive decline. In particular, the changes that occur in brain connections during the aging process are examined, as well as the patterns of brain compensation observed in both healthy elderly and elderly individuals with neurodegenerative diseases. In addition, protective factors against age-related cognitive decline are analyzed in depth, and the importance of preserving cognitive function through specific interventions, such as cognitive training, which is based on the principle of brain neuroplasticity, is also discussed. Indeed, in the central part of the thesis, the concept of cognitive training is explored, with a focus on its applications in the healthy elderly and in socially isolated settings. Different modes of intervention, including individual and group approaches, are considered in order to maximize the effectiveness of cognitive interventions. In conclusion, from this detailed analysis, the importance of adopting proactive strategies to promote healthy and active aging in contemporary society emerges.

Abstract
This bibliographic thesis explores the concept of active aging and the urgent need to develop targeted cognitive interventions in an aging society. Through a comprehensive analysis, the effect of aging on executive functions and cognitive abilities is explored, with particular emphasis on the neuropsychological perspective of cognitive decline. In conclusion, from this detailed analysis, the importance of adopting proactive strategies to promote healthy and active aging in contemporary society emerges.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
