This paper explores the issue of the post-prison period, an aspect that is often neglected in Italy both socially, in the media and academically. The main objective is to identify the difficulties and needs of former prisoners, and to propose effective strategies to facilitate their reintegration into society, while reducing the risk of reoffending. The research was conducted at the "Centro Francescano di Ascolto" in Rovigo and is based on interviews with former inmates of the Rovigo Prison, which was chosen as a study context thanks to the opportunities that emerged during an internship period. The structure of the thesis is divided into four chapters: the first chapter analyses the concept of social reintegration; the second chapter describes the methodology adopted for the research; the third chapter presents and analyses the results that emerged from the survey; finally, the fourth chapter focuses on the actors involved in the social reintegration process, with particular attention to the role of public institutions, social workers and the Third Sector. Through this study, the aim is to provide an in-depth view of the challenges faced by former prisoners, proposing concrete solutions to improve the social reintegration process. For instance, the establishment of an aftercare service is hypothesised, with the aim of filling the current gaps in the support offered to those who find themselves rebuilding their lives at the end of their sentence.

For instance, the establishment of an aftercare service is hypothesised, with the aim of filling the current gaps in the support offered to those who find themselves rebuilding their lives at the end of their sentence.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
