This thesis aims to examine the complex phenomenon of drug addiction through a twofold approach: cognitive and experimental. The first chapter investigates the structural and historical characteristics of the phenomenon, examining its historical origins and recent developments related to new addictions and substances. This provides a fundamental theoretical framework for understanding the subsequent chapters. The second chapter focuses on the social dimension of the phenomenon, investigating the role of the group in treatment and the importance of relational networks. This section introduces Social Network Analysis (SNA), an innovative paradigm that underpins the entire structure of the thesis, highlighting how social relationships influence individuals' behavior and lifestyle. The correlation between drug addiction and social capital is also examined, supported by existing studies in the SNA literature. In the third chapter, the constructs of chronicity and autonomy are explored, analyzing the LongCare project and its connection to the topics discussed. This project will be studied in this thesis through the analytical lens of Social Network Analysis. Finally, the fourth chapter articulates the steps that led to the implementation of the case study, from the outlining of the objectives to the construction of the methodological tool and the analysis of the results. It is hoped that this thesis will contribute to a deeper understanding of the phenomenon of drug addiction by highlighting how it can be analyzed through the innovative paradigm of Social Network Analysis. This approach allows the value of social relationships to be captured by offering future insights and perspectives to address and support people in such a delicate treatment.

Abstract
This approach allows the value of social relationships to be captured by offering future insights and perspectives to address and support people in such a delicate treatment.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
