With environmental problems becoming critical, researchers confirm the anthropogenic factor as the cause of climate change and its irreversibility. Climate change affects the technical, organisational and economic matters of the museum institutional sector, and culture and museums play a key role in promoting the sustainable development agenda by shaping values and behaviours, influencing public perceptions of environmental, social and economic issues. The thesis examines the activities, practices, and policies of Italian museums conducted in the direction of eco-climatic and sustainable agenda. It uses both qualitative and quantitative research methods, including dataset analysis, interviews, and surveys carried out with museum representatives, to assess the Italian museum's contribution to environmental sustainability and climate actions. Highlighting the crucial role museums play in addressing climate change by raising awareness and promoting societal shifts towards sustainable practices, the study argues the presence of museums’ activities areas to improve, such as tracking performance and progress, low level of participation in global initiatives and networks, lack of sustainability knowledge and specialised staff. The thesis concludes with strategic recommendations proposal for museums to enhance their contribution to the global eco-climatic agenda.

Abstract
The thesis concludes with strategic recommendations proposal for museums to enhance their contribution to the global eco-climatic agenda.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
