This thesis addresses the impact of proactivity on the achievement of operational excellence and lean transformation. Starting from a generic discussion on the origin and history of lean philosophy and operational excellence, the thesis continues with the illustration of most widespread theories in the field of proactivity and with an explanation of the methodologies for doing a literature review. The results of this literature review show that proactivity within organizations improves performance and adaptability of companies. Finally, it is shown how these approaches can help the next Asian giant, India, to make the most of its growth.
