The thesis explores the strategic role of middle managers in influencing the performance of Italian manufacturing companies. The study utilizes a mix of qualitative and quantitative data collected from semi-structured interviews and close-ended questionnaires with top and middle managers across excellent Italian manufacturing firms. Utilizing fuzzy-set Qualitative Comparative Analysis (fsQCA), the research identifies the configurations that lead to high company performance and innovation. The analysis takes into consideration relevant causal factors to explain the outcome variable (company performance) such as: governance structure (managerial or non-managerial), strategic involvement of the middle manager, effective strategy implementation and industry dynamism. These variables are key for understanding how middle managers contribute to the success and innovation of the interviewed companies within different governance contexts.

Abstract
These variables are key for understanding how middle managers contribute to the success and innovation of the interviewed companies within different governance contexts.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
