This thesis explores the process of digitalizing Italy’s cultural heritage, focusing on how technology is used to preserve and share the country’s vast artistic, historical, and architectural resources. By examining national projects and specific examples, the research looks at both the benefits and challenges of digitization. It highlights the role of museums, archives, and public institutions in leading this effort, as well as the influence of digital platforms on tourism, education, and public access. The study also discusses the need to balance preserving the original integrity of cultural assets with the technical requirements of digital conversion and, by a cross country comparison, how other EU members managed the same process.

Abstract
This thesis explores the process of digitalizing Italy’s cultural heritage, focusing on how technology is used to preserve and share the country’s vast artistic, historical, and architectural resources. By examining national projects and specific examples, the research looks at both the benefits and challenges of digitization. It highlights the role of museums, archives, and public institutions in leading this effort, as well as the influence of digital platforms on tourism, education, and public access. The study also discusses the need to balance preserving the original integrity of cultural assets with the technical requirements of digital conversion and, by a cross country comparison, how other EU members managed the same process.| File | Dimensione | Formato | |
