Through the lens of several case studies on streaming seriality, such as Ms. Marvel (2022) and The Falcon and the Winter Soldier (2021), this thesis aims to examine the performativity of a central figure in American imagery—the superhero—specifically in relation to critical civil and social issues relevant to the contexts in question. The choice to focus on streaming seriality is motivated by the medium's dominance in contemporary consumption and the prominent space occupied by superhero narratives within it. Following an introduction to the figure of the superhero and a historical overview of its emergence, the discussion will turn to the literature that specifically highlights the ambivalent dynamics superheroes embody in the representations and practices of civil society, with a focus on issues such as racial representation, social disparities, and religious affiliation. Building on these contributions, the analysis will then focus on the two aforementioned series.

Abstract
Building on these contributions, the analysis will then focus on the two aforementioned series.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
