The essay focuses on the theme of myth and how certain ancient values have been taken up and manipulated by modern man. Friedrich Nietzsche was the first philosopher to question truths considered untouchable and immutable by society, arguing how these symbols, also called mythologemes, were reinterpreted and adapted to the social context, in order to give explanations to certain situations. Two modern authors are then examined, Gabriele D'Annunzio and Thomas Mann, who in the light of Nietzsche's thought, used these elements in their literary works and in life itself to deal with and revisit some typical traditional concepts. The journey ends with Cesare Pavese, to demonstrate how over time, these same symbols present different interpretations depending on the era and the author.

Abstract
The essay focuses on the theme of myth and how certain ancient values have been taken up and manipulated by modern man. Friedrich Nietzsche was the first philosopher to question truths considered untouchable and immutable by society, arguing how these symbols, also called mythologemes, were reinterpreted and adapted to the social context, in order to give explanations to certain situations. Two modern authors are then examined, Gabriele D'Annunzio and Thomas Mann, who in the light of Nietzsche's thought, used these elements in their literary works and in life itself to deal with and revisit some typical traditional concepts. The journey ends with Cesare Pavese, to demonstrate how over time, these same symbols present different interpretations depending on the era and the author.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
