The present thesis aims to explore the world of post-editing (PE) when related to Audiovisual Translation (AVT) and Machine Translation (MT). In particular, the PE work was based on the astronomical documentary intitled “Venus: Death of a Planet”, and it was carried out with the CAT tool Trados. The dissertation is divided into four chapters. The first three chapter are dedicated to the theory of AVT, MT, PE and Language for Specific Purposes (LSP). Whereas the fourth and last chapter focuses on the analysis and commentary of the actual PE work. Specifically, the study followed two main phases, a first translation phase which was performed by Trados NMT, called Language Weaver, and a second PE phase that was realised mainly with Trados, but during which Aegisub was used too in order to make up for a specific lack of Trados. All the issues found during the PE phase were detected, categorised and explained through some examples in the fourth chapter and they dealt with segmentation and writing conventions, register, idiomaticity, terminology and phraseology, language and grammar, additions and mistranslations, inconsistent translations, untranslated and omitted subtitles.

Abstract
All the issues found during the PE phase were detected, categorised and explained through some examples in the fourth chapter and they dealt with segmentation and writing conventions, register, idiomaticity, terminology and phraseology, language and grammar, additions and mistranslations, inconsistent translations, untranslated and omitted subtitles.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
