Abstract
The Carolingian Empire was a complex political entity, whose administration was entrusted by Carolingian kings to an aristocracy personally linked to them. Over time, the historiographical debate has tried to outline the evolutionary path of the official aristocracies, from different points of view: institutional, social and cultural. In this research, these same characteristics have been analyzed through the lens of private documentation, in an attempt to identify typical patterns of the counts' actions, showing what could be their strategies of self-representation and interaction with the kings, the other components of the Empire's elite and the Carolingian society as a whole.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
