The thesis addresses the topic of co-responsibility in the use of food resources. From the study of the historical and cultural contextual elements regarding the issue of food insecurity, it has emerged how the dominant perspective in the management of food resources is one of “consumption”, as focused on the material satisfaction of food need. The logic of “response to need,” however, may show some critical issues: on the scientific level, the risk of not having a rigorous method to generate knowledge and deal with the issue; on the operational level, dynamics of welfarism, de-empowerment of institutions (ActionAid, s.d.), constant demands for assistance and waste. The use of the M.A.D.I.T. methodology, which originated within Dialogic Science, made it possible to observe that a “shift” from a “consumption” logic to a “co-responsibility” logic is necessary. In a "co-responsibility" logic citizens share responsibility for managing food resources, turning food insecurity into an opportunity to promote social cohesion. Following this "shift", a research was implemented in collaboration with “Solidar-Market” service in Cassano d'Adda (MI), which collects food surpluses from local businesses and arranges them in the market, collaborating with other associations. The objective of the research is to measure the degree of co-responsibility in the use of food resources of Solidar-Market volunteers, social actors who collaborate with the service and citizens of Cassano d'Adda area. Chapter 4 describes the results of the research, and in Chapter 5 some proposals for using the observational data in terms of promoting social cohesion.
