The following paper provides an overview of the relationship between mythology and psychoanalysis, drawing on the contributions of scholars such as Sigmund Freud, Karl Abraham, Wilfred Bion and Carl Jung. The purpose of this thesis is precisely to examine myth from a psychological perspective. Therefore, the myth of Medea will be used to address the themes of the feminine and the motherhood. Indeed, the figure of Medea offers the possibility of highlighting the shadows of motherhood and the fragilities to which women are exposed, analyzing the different configurations of this unique psychic conformation, in order to look not only at the myth but at all possible Medea who face the complexity of maternal feelings. Finally, exploring also infanticide in terms of the conflict between the desire for love/care and revenge/destruction and thus analyzing Medea's extreme gesture from a psychopathological perspective.
Il seguente lavoro fornisce una panoramica della relazione tra mitologia e psicoanalisi, attingendo ai contributi di studiosi come Sigmund Freud, Karl Abraham, Wilfred Bion e Carl Jung. Scopo di questa tesi è proprio esaminare il mito in chiave psicologica. Verrà quindi usato il mito di Medea per affrontare i temi del femminile e del materno. La figura di Medea offre infatti la possibilità di mettere in luce le ombre della maternità e le fragilità a cui le donne sono esposte, analizzando diverse configurazioni di questa unica conformazione psichica, per poter guardare non solo al mito ma a tutte le Medee possibili che devono fronteggiare la complessità dei sentimenti materni. Esplorando infine anche l'infanticidio in termini di conflitto tra desiderio di amore/cura e vendetta/distruzione ed analizzando quindi il gesto estremo di Medea in chiave psicopatologica.
