Abstract
The relationship between the institution of the Church and Cosa Nostra is based on deep and complex roots. For a long time, the Church did not publicly speak out against it. You can find both testimonies of religious who try to counter the phenomenon and help their communities that are affected, and of religious who deny its existence or support it, even as part of the religious. Following the murder of Don Pino Puglisi, the Church began to take a role of greater involvement in opposing Cosa Nostra, trying to limit its influence both in the interference in religious bodies and in the use of Catholic ritualistic, The means to maintain influence. Although the Church, in countering it, has achieved many advances, this is a topic still current, as well as extremely sensitive, since the mafia is still heavily rooted in Sicilian territory and many people still support it, Minimising or denying the danger.
