This thesis addresses the control of photobioreactors, which are closed, transparent containers designed for the growth of photosynthetic microorganisms. In particular, model-based predictive control techniques in state space are explored, which can be divided into two main categories: classical techniques and structurally robust techniques. Classical techniques, which are well known in the scientific literature of control systems, are widely used in biological systems and, in particular, in photobioreactors. For robust techniques, a specific approach is employed that prioritizes robust satisfaction of constraints rather than performance. So, the different techniques have different and complementary goals and all can be applied, depending on what goals the designer sets. Therefore, the techniques are analyzed separately and, of each, the main features are highlighted.

Abstract
Therefore, the techniques are analyzed separately and, of each, the main features are highlighted.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
