Development of Nb3Sn coatings for applications in superconducting resonant cavities for particle accelerators. Specifically, the influence of the substrate on the superconductive properties of the coatings will be investigated, in particular by varying the lattice parameter of the Nb buffer layer that acts as a barrier layer between the copper substrate and the superconductive Nb3Sn coating. The coatings will be characterised from a morphological (SEM, EDS, XRD, RBS, SIMS) and superconductive (inductive Tc) point of view. In particular, the use of DCMS and PMS techniques for deposition will be evaluated, as well as the use of a QPR for RF assessment of film quality.
Sviluppo di coating di Nb3Sn per applicazioni in cavità risonanti superconduttive per acceleratori di particelle. Nello specifico si andrà a studiare l'influenza del substrato sulle proprietà superconduttive dei coating, in particolare variando il parametro reticolare del buffer layer di Nb che funge da strato barriera tra il substrato di rame e il coating superconduttivo di Nb3Sn. I coating verranno caratterizzati dal punto di vista morfologico (SEM, EDS, XRD, RBS, SIMS) e superconduttivo (Tc induttiva). In particolare si valuterà l'utilizzo delle tecniche DCMS e PMS per la deposizione, nonché l'utilizzo di un QPR per la valutazione RF della qualità del film.
