This dissertation delve into the contrasting welfare state models of Denmark and Italy through the lens of defamilization, a concept that examines the extent to which individuals—particularly women—are freed from reliance on the family for economic and social support. By analyzing key areas such as maternity entitlements, childcare services and long-term care (LTC), this study investigates how these policies influence gender roles, labor market participation, and social equality. Using a comparative approach, the dissertation highlights the sociopolitical and economic factors shaping these systems, drawing on theoretical frameworks such as Esping-Andersen's typology and Saxonberg's degenderizing policies. The findings illuminate how different welfare regimes affect gender equality, social cohesion, and national economic performance.

Abstract
The findings illuminate how different welfare regimes affect gender equality, social cohesion, and national economic performance.| File | Dimensione | Formato | |
