This thesis will analyse in depth the dynamics and features that characterised Technocracy as an alternative model of governance and unique ideology that preached the excellence of specialized knowledge and scientific performance. The aim of this paper is to examine the origins and evolution of technocracy under a linguistic as well as social and economic-historical point of view, understanding the importance and the impact that the technocratic thought had from the early decades of the 20th century until the modern era. Particular attention will de dedicated to the profile and role of the technocrat throughout the history, discussing influence, inspiration and features that defined the archetype of a new leader. With the support of corpora, books, essays and journals the thesis will provide a detailed analysis of one of the most important yet ambiguous and overlooked phenomenon that distinguished the contemporary American and global history.
