This dissertation analyzes the differences in the language used to describe male and female artists in online music reviews. The aim of this study is to investigate the possible presence of gender disparities in the descriptions of the artists and their work. The results highlight the presence differences in the language used, specifically evident in the forms of identification chosen to refer to the female artists and in the language used to discuss their work. In particular, the female artists aretalked about using mostly emotional language, while the discourse around male artists tends to show a prevalence of neutral, factive language.
Questo elaborato analizza il linguaggio utilizzato per discutere di artisti maschi e femmine nelle recensioni musicali online. L'obiettivo è quello di indagare, attraverso l'analisi di corpora di recensioni, l'eventuale esistenza di disparità di genere nella discussione degli artisti e del loro lavoro. I risultati evidenziano la presenza di differenze nel linguaggio utilizzato nelle forme di identificazione scelte per le artiste e nel lessico impiegato per discutere del loro lavoro. In particolare, le artiste vengono descritte con una prevalenza di lessico emotivo, mentre per gli artisti si utilizza un lessico neutro.
