The central theme of this work is the Capability Approach, initially inserted in the Virtue Ethics debate and then analyzed to explore its possible links with education. In the first chapter, the Virtues Ethics is introduced, with a focus on the meaning of virtue, its main characteristics, the authors who have dealt with it and the relationship they have to emotions. The second chapter focuses on the Capability Approach, proposed as a necessary alternative to traditional economic and philosophical methods. The contributions of Amartya Sen and Martha Nussbaum are examined, highlighting similarities and divergences in their perspectives. Finally, in the third chapter we will delve into the theme of education, analyzing the paradigms of Human Capital and Human Development, with a reflection on their respective advantages and limits. It is also shown how the Capability Approach can be inserted in the educational context. The aim of this paper is to demonstrate how Virtues Ethics, and in particular the Capability Approach, can provide answers to global problems, highlighting the link between ethics and education to promote human flourishing.
