Over the years, adolescence has often been interpreted through a negative lens, focusing on emotional, behavioral, and social difficulties. However, the Positive Youth Development (PYD) paradigm has introduced an innovative approach that highlights the resources, skills, and growth potential of young people, fostering their well-being and resilience. This work explores PYD through four chapters: the first examines adolescence and the main theories of development; the second delves into the role of sports as an ideal context for applying PYD principles; the third analyzes the Youth Experience Survey for Sport, a tool to assess adolescents' developmental experiences; finally, the fourth chapter presents a study on the Italian validation of the tool, showcasing its usefulness in monitoring and promoting positive development among Italian youth.

Abstract
Over the years, adolescence has often been interpreted through a negative lens, focusing on emotional, behavioral, and social difficulties. However, the Positive Youth Development (PYD) paradigm has introduced an innovative approach that highlights the resources, skills, and growth potential of young people, fostering their well-being and resilience. This work explores PYD through four chapters: the first examines adolescence and the main theories of development; the second delves into the role of sports as an ideal context for applying PYD principles; the third analyzes the Youth Experience Survey for Sport, a tool to assess adolescents' developmental experiences; finally, the fourth chapter presents a study on the Italian validation of the tool, showcasing its usefulness in monitoring and promoting positive development among Italian youth.| File | Dimensione | Formato | |
