In this thesis I investigate Georgia’s possible integration to the European Union as a Georgian people’s century aspiration to be the part of the European family and the bearer of European values. Despite my greatest enthusiasm of Georgia’s accession to the European Union in this dissertation I raise the following issue - with many other peculiarities Georgia’s northern neighbor imperialist state Russia, which has occupied 20% of Georgia’s territory, is the main obstacle that hinders Georgia’s accession. My opinion is based on the idea that Georgia is a platform for Russia to keep control of the South Caucasus region and Georgia’s EU accession will weaken its influence on the region. This is the reason why the Georgian European integration is under the question: while the EU is the guarantor of peace, security and social and democratic prosperity for its member states, will Georgia’s possible integration to the EU be a guarantee of security and regional stability? Or a threat coming from Russia?

Abstract
Or a threat coming from Russia?| File | Dimensione | Formato | |
