The Hyrcanian Forests in Iran, located along the southern coast of the Caspian Sea, are one of the last remnants of natural deciduous forests in the world, which are host to unique biodiversity (fauna and flora). However, in recent decades these forests have undergone dramatic changes as the result of rapid economic and social development. This thesis aims to provide a comprehensive review and perspective on the contemporary landscape changes of the Hyrcanian Forests in Iran. It discusses the conservation efforts on the forests and to proposes strategies for sustainable management and preservation of them.

Abstract
