Woody biomass, within national and community policy, represents an important renewable source for the creation of energy chains. Within this context, this thesis was written, aimed at evaluating the technical and economic feasibility of expanding the forest-wood-energy chain, already active in some municipalities of the Seriana Valley and managed by the Forestry Consortium "Alto Serio", to the Municipality of Clusone (BG). In the first part of the thesis, the existing chain was analyzed, with the study of the forest surfaces through the adjustment plans for the determination of the quantity of biomass produced, the description of the existing plants and the agro-forestry-pastoral road system, the phases of the chain and its economic sustainability were then analyzed. The progress of the bark beetle infestation was also analyzed by estimating the availability of the material in exhaustion. In the second part of the paper, the feasibility of expanding the forest-wood-energy supply chain in the Municipality of Clusone was analyzed by hypothesizing two scenarios: the first, simpler, involves the creation of a boiler to serve the elementary schools and the library, the second, more complex, involves the creation of two boilers, one to serve the elementary schools together with the library and one to serve the middle schools. A cost-revenue analysis was also carried out for the new construction to evaluate the return on investment, also considering possible public funding.
Le biomasse legnose, all’interno della politica nazionale e comunitaria, rappresentano un’importante fonte rinnovabile per la creazione di filiere energetiche. All’interno di questo contesto, è stata redatta la presente tesi di laurea, finalizzata alla valutazione della fattibilità tecnica ed economica dell’ampliamento della filiera bosco-legno-energia, già attiva in alcuni Comuni della Valle Seriana e gestita dal Consorzio Forestale ‘’Alto Serio’’, al Comune di Clusone (BG). Nella prima parte dell’elaborato, è stata analizzata la filiera esistente, con lo studio delle superfici forestali attraverso i piani di assestamento per la determinazione della quantità di biomassa prodotta, la descrizione degli impianti esistenti e della viabilità agro-silvo-pastorale, sono quindi state analizzate le fasi di filiera e la sostenibilità economica della stessa. Si è inoltre analizzato l’andamento dell’infestazione da bostrico stimando la disponibilità in esaurimento del materiale. Nella seconda parte dell’elaborato si è analizzata la fattibilità dell’espansione della filiera bosco-legno-energia al Comune di Clusone ipotizzando due scenari: il primo, più semplice, prevede la creazione di una caldaia a servizio delle scuole elementari e della biblioteca, il secondo, più complesso, vede la creazione di due caldaie, una a servizio delle scuole elementari insieme alla biblioteca e una a servizio delle scuole medie. Anche per la nuova realizzazione è stata svolta un’analisi costi-ricavi per valutare il ritorno di investimento considerando anche eventuali finanziamenti pubblici.
