I "travestimenti" di Lear in Italia: traduzioni, messinscene, riscritture

If Shakespeare can be defined as "our contemporary", this is also thanks to King Lear, probably the darkest tragedy ever conceived by human ingenuity. Although rooted in the kingdom of Albion, of which Lear would have been a legendary ruler, the work anticipates the existential knots and social tensions that afflict us in our daily lives. Well, the purpose of this work intends to clarify how, through a tangle of translation, directorial and rewriting choices, King Lear continues to speak to the Italian sensibility and to raise questions about our present.

Se Shakespeare può essere definito "nostro contemporaneo", ciò avviene anche grazie a King Lear, probabilmente la tragedia più cupa mai concepita dall'ingegno umano. Seppur radicata nel regno di Albione, di cui Lear sarebbe stato un leggendario sovrano, l'opera anticipa i nodi esistenziali e le tensioni sociali che ci affliggono nella nostra quotidianità. Ebbene, lo scopo del presente lavoro intende chiarire come, tramite un viluppo di scelte traduttive, registiche e riscrittive, King Lear continui a parlare alla sensibilità italiana e a sollevare interrogativi sul nostro presente.
