Letteratura sotto assedio: raccontare Sarajevo tra realtà e rappresentazione (1992-2023)

In the paper, it is proposed to investigate and retrace the history of the methodological approach and a consequent comparison between the historical and literary disciplines, through the studies of Hayden White, and then address other artistic sectors in which the siege of Sarajevo is represented, in particular, with regard to war reportage, which refers to the genre of photojournalism, in the cinematographic, theatrical and literary fields. Throughout the study, the siege of Sarajevo appears, introduced by the analysis of historical events such as the Yugoslav Wars and the problems related to the conflict, the Bosnian War and, specifically, the event of the siege of the city, also tracing a general overview of the reference literature of the three authors Izet Sarajlić, Dževad Karahasan and Miljenko Jergović, who actively contributed, through their civil and social commitment, to the Bosnian cause, using literature as a tool, documenting, testifying and conveying a message of denunciation and resistance. This theme is treated in literature up to the present day, thus giving birth to a literary myth about the city of Sarajevo and its inhabitants, so much so that its stories are narrated in two contemporary novels by the authors Priscilla Morris and Rosella Postorino, respectively "Le farfalle di Sarajevo" and "Mi limitavo ad amare te". After an initial comparison, based on the search for convergent and divergent elements, the reception and contribution of a theme such as the siege of Sarajevo in contemporary literature is addressed.

Nell'elaborato, si propone di indagare e ripercorrere la storia dell’approccio metodologico e un conseguente confronto tra la disciplina storica e quella letteraria, attraverso gli studi di Hayden White, per poi affrontare altri settori artistici in cui viene rappresentato l’assedio di Sarajevo, in particolare, per quanto riguarda il reportage di guerra, che rinvia al genere del fotogiornalismo, nell’ambito cinematografico, teatrale e in quello letterario. Per tutto l'approfondimento, compare l’assedio di Sarajevo, introdotto dall’analisi delle vicende storiche quali le Guerre Jugoslave e le problematiche legate al conflitto, la Guerra di Bosnia e, nello specifico, l’evento stesso dell’assedio della città, tracciando anche una panoramica generale sulla letteratura di riferimento dei tre autori Izet Sarajlić, Dževad Karahasan e Miljenko Jergović, che hanno contribuito attivamente, attraverso il loro impegno civile e sociale, alla causa bosniaca, utilizzato come strumento la letteratura, documentando, testimoniando e veicolando un messaggio di denuncia e resistenza. Questa tematica viene trattata nella letteratura fino ad oggi, facendo nascere così un mito letterario sulla città di Sarajevo e i suoi abitanti, tanto da narrarne le storie nei due romanzi contemporanei delle autrici Priscilla Morris e Rosella Postorino, rispettivamente "Le farfalle di Sarajevo" e "Mi limitavo ad amare te". Dopo una prima comparazione, basata sulla ricerca degli elementi convergenti e di quelli divergenti, viene affrontata la ricezione e l’apporto di una tematica come l’assedio di Sarajevo nella letteratura contemporanea.
