This thesis explores the interaction between musical training and cognitive processes, aiming to analyze how musical practice influences the development and functioning of cognitive abilities and psychological traits. Through a review of scientific literature, the main differences between musicians and non-musicians are examined in areas such as perception, attention, memory, intelligence, and personality. Numerous studies have shown that music education not only enhances strictly musical skills but also strengthens general cognitive abilities, contributing to intellectual development and potentially playing a protective role against cognitive decline. The analysis focuses on perceptual and attentional abilities for musical, auditory, and visual stimuli, on memory performance in these same domains, on crystallized and fluid intelligence, and on personality traits according to the Big Five model.

Abstract
This thesis explores the interaction between musical training and cognitive processes, aiming to analyze how musical practice influences the development and functioning of cognitive abilities and psychological traits. Through a review of scientific literature, the main differences between musicians and non-musicians are examined in areas such as perception, attention, memory, intelligence, and personality. Numerous studies have shown that music education not only enhances strictly musical skills but also strengthens general cognitive abilities, contributing to intellectual development and potentially playing a protective role against cognitive decline. The analysis focuses on perceptual and attentional abilities for musical, auditory, and visual stimuli, on memory performance in these same domains, on crystallized and fluid intelligence, and on personality traits according to the Big Five model.| File | Dimensione | Formato | |
