Quantum computing is a technology that will revolutionise the global value chain by shifting its balance and consists in exploiting knowledge about quantum physics to produce systems capable of performing calculations impossible to perform with classical systems. The first part of the thesis then deals with the whole phenomenon of quantum computing by analyzing first the history and operation of this technology, and then explore what are the effects on various businesses and the most promising technologies based on quantum computing. The final part of the thesis is instead characterized by the analysis of quantum industry, then what is behind the quantum economy, and consequently major players in the market and case studies able to give an idea of the current state of technology, of its maturity, its spread and the near future.
Il quantum computing è una tecnologia che rivoluzionerà la catena del valore globale spostandone gli equilibri e consta nello sfruttare le conoscenze riguardanti la fisica quantistica per produrre sistemi in grado di svolgere calcoli impossibili da svolgere con sistemi classici. La prima parte della tesi tratta quindi l'intero fenomeno del quantum computing analizzando prima la storia e il funzionamento di questa tecnologia, per poi sviscerare ciò che sono gli effetti sui vari business e le tecnologie più promettenti basate sul calcolo quantistico. La parte finale della tesi è invece caratterizzata dall'analisi della quantum industry, quindi di ciò che c'è dietro la quantum economy, e di conseguenza dei maggiori player sul mercato e da case studies in grado di dare un'idea dello stato attuale della tecnologia, della sua maturità, della sua diffusione e del futuro prossimo.
