Endometriosis is a complex gynaecological pathology that is difficult to recognise and is still often stigmatised. This is mainly due to a lack of awareness of the condition among the general public, but especially among healthcare professionals, and to the negative perception of some symptoms affecting women with endometriosis. These factors can lead to mismanagement of the condition. It is therefore necessary to adopt specific measures aimed at increasing knowledge about endometriosis, strengthening research in the field and raising awareness. The aim of this report is precisely to raise awareness through a terminological study of the condition and, to achieve this, a specialised medical text has been translated from French into Italian. The dissertation is divided into five chapters, the first two of which are theoretical and deal respectively with the presentation of endometriosis from the medical and social points of view and the description of the characteristics of the medical terminology. The other three chapters are devoted to the practical part, i.e. the methodology adopted for exploring the field, the terminological work carried out within the chosen medical text and the subsequent translation.
